Istilah ekspresi-ekspresi untuk menanyakan sebuah informasi kepada seseorang disebut Asking Information dan sedangkan, Giving Information adalah ekspresi-ekspresi yang digunakan untuk menyatakan atau menyampaikan suatu informasi.

Memulai kalimat tanya dengan WH Questions, seperti What, Where, Why, When, Who, dan How. Bisa juga memulai awal pertanyaan menggunakan Modal Auxiliaries, seperti: Can, Could, Will, Would, Shall, Should, Must, May, Might, Had to.

1. Ucapan Selamat Ulang Tahun

Ungkapan-ungkapan berikut ini adalah ucapan selamat yang bisa diberikan kepada orang yang sedang berulangtahun. Perlu diketahui bahwa penutur asli bahasa Inggris juga sering mengucapkan doa dan harapan-harapan yang baik ketika mengucapkan selamat ulang tahun:

• Happy birthday. (Selamat ulang tahun)
• Happy [number] birthday! (Selamat ulang tahun yang ke [nomor]!).

2. Ucapan Selamat Ulang Tahun Pernikahan dan Hari Jadi

Ucapan selamat ulang tahun tentunya tidak selalu tentang hari kelahiran seseorang. Kita juga bisa mengucapkan selamat ulang tahun untuk peristiwa atau kejadian tertentu yang spesial, seperti pernikahan, ulang tahun perusahaan, masa bakti, dan sebagainya. Ucapan selamat yang paling umum dalam konteks ini adalah happy anniversary (selamat hari jadi). Contoh penggunaan:
